Motorists unworried by speed cameras

Some 73 per cent of motorists are risking making it harder to find cheap car insurance cover in the future, due to regularly speeding when behind the wheel.
A survey from The Co-operative Insurance has found that 19 per cent of motorists admit to speeding at least once on a daily basis, while a further 23 per cent stated that they did so on a couple of occasions every week.
Worryingly, many of the speeding drivers claim they do so because they believe that they will not be caught by the fixed cameras currently in operation.
Of the study, only 27 per cent of respondents claimed they never break any speed limits.
David Neave, director of general insurance at The Co-operative Insurance, said: "The frenetic pace of life today means that speeding has become endemic in British society.
"People often don't think about the dangers of driving a few miles an hour over the limit. But that can mean the difference between having a safe journey or a collision, and whether you survive or not."
Those looking for cheap car insurance should avoid speeding, as a speeding ticket will add at least three points on to their driving licence, which will increase a car insurance quote in the future.
