Young drivers targeted by new training course

A new training session has been made available to younger drivers - many of whom are at risk of a car crash, says an expert group.
The Royal Society for the Protection of Accidents (RoSPA) has developed an appraisal that aims to show these motorists where their weak spots are when it comes to getting behind the wheel.
One in five younger motorists in involved in a collision within a year of passing their test and over 300 people are killed via these incidents every year, the organisation said.
The appraisal will evaluate their skills during a one-hour journey accompanied by a RoSPA trainer, with issues related to attitude, technique and ability highlighted.
Rick Wood is head of training at the group's driver and fleet solutions team, and described the assessment as a "great start" for improvement.
"I'm confident that the assessment will help young motorists to identify weak areas in their driving," he added.
Younger motorists often have to pay higher motor insurance premiums but comparing the market can help to find the most suitable policy.
