Cancer 'buddy' helped sufferer through her ordeal

A stomach cancer sufferer has told of how a support group helped to make her ordeal more bearable.
Beryl Powell, 68, teamed up with fellow sufferer and East Dorset resident Ray Bryant, 61, through the Cancer Buddies Network (CBN), the BBC reports.
Ms Powell, from the West Midlands, was diagnosed with the condition last year and found Mr Bryant, who had previously undergone a gastrectomy, or stomach removal, provided informed support.
"It was a relief to have Ray as a cancer buddy because he could relate to what I was going through. Having someone there who has gone through the same thing is really helpful," she tells the news provider.
Mr Bryant says his original experience was a lonely one, which prompted him to sign up to the CBN to help others.
The network was founded by former breast cancer sufferer Jan Rutter in 2006 and now provides worldwide help for people with disease, which may interest those with cancer insurance.
